Lady in a fur wrap.

April 15, 2007

Woman with a Fur Wrap is a bit of a mystery. It was probably painted by El Greco in Madrid around 1577, yet some specialists believe it was painted in Italy approximately twenty years later. Many scholars consider El Greco to have painted it, but others believe it was painted by Sofonisba Anguissola. This contemporary of Guerrero is often thought to be Catalina Micaela, the daughter of Philip II, while some years ago the portrait was said to represent El Greco’s wife. Doubts, uncertainties, silences.

Hur som helst, bland det snyggaste jag vet i hela världen.
